Back to Work

We stayed for 3 nights in Yangshuo, where the scenery was amazing but the weather was not. We all took a cooking course and learnt to make some chinese food, which I can show off next summer. We then said good goodbye to the British Council crew and Sophia and I headed South to Guangzhou, and eventually made it into Honk Kong. The city is unlike any other in China. There are foreigners everywhere and loads of foreign shops, restaurants, chains, it really felt more Like London or New York than China. It's a really cool place, and walking around Kowloon was prety fun. Immediately everything was so much more expensive than the rest of China, and after a lot of hostel searching we found probably the worst hostel ive been to. It was set in a gym, the beds were metallic, with an inch thick mattress on top, no lock on the door...but it was all good, we went out both nights in Honk Kong, the first in Kowloon for posh drinks and the second for a good drunk and expensive night out in Soho. We went up Victoria peak (where the view of Honk Kong is actually a bit like that of WZ) then headed back to Shenzhen and Guangzhou were we managed to secure (for the first time this trip) two hard sleeoer beds on a train back to Chongqing, and also bump into another BC friend.
It was finally over, the epic five week journey that took us across South West China. This is what I had come to China for, the amazing landscapes, the culture, the people, the language, and this trip had it all. I really think this part of China is beautiful, and that Yunnan is the best province to travel to.
Although the trip was amazing it was also so nice to come back and chill, be lazy for a bit. We ended up doing the Three Gorges Dam trip a few weekends ago which was not that great (yeh its big, but its still just a dam) and the crowds were too crazy. Gut the landscape was pretty nice (If you look on the back of a ten rmb note, that's where we went to).
Sophia hopped on a plane back to Shanghai then on another to England, and it's been a bit lonely in my apartment, although I've had a good birthday weekend, and am staying pretty busy.
Now it's time to get back to working again, get back into learning Chinese, and keep making the most of my stay in China!

Nous sommes restes trois soirs a Yangshuo, ou les montagnes etaient belles, mais ou il faisait jamais beau. On a tous pris des cours de cuisine donc j'espere impressionner cette ete avec quelques nouvelles recettes. Ensuite, il etait temps pour Sophia et moi de dire au revoir a mes amis du British Council, et on est alle au Sud, a Guangzhou, pour enfin arriver a Hong Kong, qui ne ressemble a aucune autre ville Chinoise. Il y avait des etrangers et toutes les grandes marques, magasins, et restos de l'Ouest (on a meme reussi a manger des pains au chocolat! enfin un, c'etait cher) et je me sentais plus a Londres ou New York qu'en Chine. Lex prix etaient assez choquant et on etait oblige, apres beaucoup de temps passe a chercher une auberge, a rester dans un des pire hotel/hostel que j'ai jamais vu. C'etait dans une vielle salle de gym, les lits etait metaliques, avec un minuscule matelas (2-3cm) au dessus, une porte qui ferme pas a clef... Enfin bon, ca nous a pas deranges car on est sorti nos deux soir a Hong Kong, le premier pour quelques boissons dans un bar assez classe a Kowloon, et le second pour une bonne soiree arosee et chere a Soho. Le lendemain on est alle au sommet de Victoria peak pour avoir une vue de la ville (qui ressemble un peu a WZ). Nous sommes revenus a Shenzhen et Guangzhou ou on a reussi (pour la premiere fois au cours de ce voyage) a avoir deux lits durs sur un train pour Chongqing, dans lequel il y avait aussi un ami du BC.
C'etait enfin termine, le voyage de 5 semaines qui nous a emportes autour du Sud Ouest de la Chine. C'est pour cela que j'etai venu en Chine, pour les paysages magnifiques, la culture, les gens, la langue, et ce voyage avait tout ca. Je crois sincerement que cette partie de la Chine est la plus belle, et que Yunnan est la meilleur province.
Meme si le trip etait super, c'etait aussi tres sympa de revenir et se poser un peu a Wanzhou, pour retrouver notre amie la paresse. On s'est quand meme leves pour faire le voyage jusqu'au Barrages des Trois Gorges (qui etait pas top, c'est vraiment juste un barrage) et il y a vait trooooppp de gens. Mais bon les gorges etaient jolies (il y a un dessin d'un paysage au dos d'un billet de 10 rmb, c'est la ou on a ete).
Sophia a pris un avion pour Shanghai puis un autre pour l'Angletterre, et je me retrouve tout seul dans mon appart donc un peu triste, mais j'ai passe un super weekend d'anniversaire, et je suis assez occupe donc tout va bien.
Maintenant il est temps de vraiment me remettre au travail, me remettre a apprendre le Chinois, et de continuer a profiter de Wanzhou et de ce pays vraiment fascinant qui est la Chine.
