Wanzhou!

For some reason I can't post pictures or videos here so I'll try n put some on facebook at some point.

So I made it to Wanzhou! The train was about 30 hours long but really worth it, saw some amazing scenery, especially when we started going through the mountains and countryside villages. There was 9 of us, so did'nt get bored and time flew by. When we arrived in Chongqing, Julia, my mentor teacher, was there to pick me up and said "oh you must be tired, so we booked a hotel". pretty pimp, i had a room to myself first night in chongqing. Next morning we picked up Toni (who is also assigned to Wanzhou foreign language school) from a school in Chongqing, and drove to Wanzhou.
The city is large but spread out over several mountains and hills on different parts of the river, but there is a big city centre, which is where i live. My apartment is in the old school, downtown, really close to gao sun tan, the main square in Wanzhou with loads of people dancing and singing revolutionary songs every night. Like Shanghai, there are neon lights and big buildings everywhere, but Wanzhou is much smaller and not touristy at all, I still have'nt seen another foreigner after 5 days! The town is really busy all the time, with loads of smells and sounds coming from everywhere, and I've allready had the local specialities of hotpot (a big fondue-like dish filled with boiling water where you dip meats, vegetables, and fish in) and gege, a small meat and potato dish. Yesterday I went for a walk down the promenade next to the river, and back through the town. There are so many little roads and areas to follow that are so fascinating and its just an overdose of culture everytime I walk around its unreal. Everyone stares too but i just plug my ipod in and walk. The town is quite big, and theres even Mcdonalds, Kfc, Pizza Hut, and Walmart!
I have 14 lessons every week, and each class is of about 70 students each, so I've got lots of names to remember! Most classes are in the new school, a short bus ride away, its completely surrounded by mountains so the view is amazing. On Fridays I teach grade 1 students at the old school, meaning kids who have never learnt english, some don't even know hello, so I have to start with the alphapet, ouhlalala it will be a challenge but will force me to learn chinese which is good.
Now onto my apartment, which is on the 6th floor so I have a view. Its big and I've got everything I need, kitchen, double bed, sofa in the lounge with tv, and even a computer, but the toilet is something else! Its basically a shower and toilet all in one, so there is one hole for toilet and shower water too. the flush is a hose, and theres a lil door where you put the trash and it falls to the bottom of the apartment. So basically its smelly and grimy as hell! apparently theres bugs and mice too, whoop!
No but all is good I'm slowly cleaning up the whole place and putting posters up to make it more homely.
Voila, thats about all I can write, seeing as now I gota do it all in french!

Hope everyone is good!

Me voila a Wanzhou!

waouuuuu didnt realise that Wanzhou would be so big and would have Mcdonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and Walmart... you won't want to come back home!
I cant believe you have classes of 70 students.. the rooms must be the size of gym halls or something, it must be crazy! do you have a microphone? how does everyone hear you? are you alone teaching or is there another teacher too?
and what are the people like? hope you've got some cool people you can bust jokes with. and hope you've also managed to find yourself a guitar too.
